day 4

today (17/1/08) we decided on using chlorophyll for our cream base. we can do the extraction of chlorophyll from leaves tomorrow. shaun will be bringing the leaves. but as yet we still do not have a confirmed recipe for the default cream. i'll confirm with you all tomorrow. we will have to get the ingredients over the weekend.
tomorrow's session will be starting from 3pm. i have informed ms stephanie teo about it and she will help us book the lab. hopefully we can finish the extraction by 5pm. our mentor will be there to help us too.

day 3

we had our 3rd meeting today, 10/1/2008. discussed the research materials that shaun printed, namely, Vitamin E. although it's very effective, it's too commonly used and not very "unique". same goes for my vitamin A. we brainstormed and came up with other potential ingredients. they are:
-chlorophyll
-pomegranate
-"special" charcoal
-fermented red yeast

research needs to be done for these ingredients. find any benefits they possess. hopefully we can incorporate their benefits into the skin cream. also, we have to read up on the recipies to make the cream base. a quick look into a health shop (eg. The Body Shop, Watsons) to check out their skin cream would also help.

there will be a meeting on next tuesday, 15/1/2008, for those that can make it. it starts at 2.30pm, probably at the life science lab. please have your research done by then. next friday, 18/1/2008, we will also have another meeting, when we will start experimenting. so it's best if all the info is gotten by tuesday. try and print out if possible, or else write it down.

met at school on 22nov07 at 0914

everyone was present

discussed topics:
-hair dye
-skin cream
-diapers material

problems faced:
-we don't have a printer between us. therefore there's no way we can bring our research materials to class. which is a big problem cuz we have to write out all our materials.
-hard to find research. dunno where to look.
-wiki is turning unreliable. sadly.

solution for problems:
-ask school to sponsor us a printer. if it works
-look harder...?
-find other e-encyclopaedias i guess.

task list:
-bring research materials (somehow)
-ingredients list (important!!!1!!!one!!1!!eleven!!!)
-find out testing procedure for each, and select the most feasible

NOTES: for the skin cream, it has been found that strawberry yoghurt does smoothen skin. but i guess the main drawback is that it's sticky and attracts ants. maybe we could work on that base.

informal meetup 1

went to dean house to do more research. came up with new idea, on what we can use for making skin smoother. and we replaced the old idea of making snacks from plants/fruits with a type of substance that can lighten/darken hair colour.

also, we sent the email today to our mentors. i guess we have to wait for thursday to hear our mentors' advice.

day 1

had our first meeting. came up with some ideas like:

-hair dye that changes colour
-usage of diaper material to absorb water on other parts of the body
-healthy drink (besides coffee and tea) that keeps people awake and alert naturally
-plants/fruits with medicinal properties that can be made into snacks/drinks

(sort of) appointed a leader and a secretary; nicholas and dean, respectively.

we decided that dean will research on the hair dye, shaun will research on the diaper material, and nicholas will do the other two topics on drink/snacks.
